Easter: Kogi Education Commissioner urges Christians to emulate Christ, pray for Nigeria
The Kogi State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Hon Wemi Jones FCIB, has urged Christians in the state to emulate the sacrificial nature and love of Jesus Christ, who sacrificed his life for others.
The commissioner said that if Christians the followers of Christ and indeed the people could copy a little of Christ’s love and sacrificial nature, the country would be better for it.
He noted that God sent his only begotten son into the world to accomplish a mission, and part of the mission was to make the greatest sacrifice of dying for the entire mankind.
“Through out Jesus’ mission on earth, he keeps making sacrifices for the people; His leadership style was purely anchored on sacrifice for others.
”As Christian faithful, we must continue to live a life that is holy and acceptable unto God knowing fully well that there is life after death which is the resurrection of the saints in Christ,” he said.
He admonished the people to unite in prayer to God to heal Nigeria and the nations of the world of the deadly coronavirus, while urging them to obey and practice all the precautionary measures against the spread of the disease.
He enjoined parents and guardians to make sure they give adequate attention to their children and wards to ensure their safety during the school shutdown period.
”I pray that the Almighty God will protect everyone of us, the state, our nation and the world at large even as we celebrate this Easter season.
”May we find the renewal of hope, health, love and the spirit of God, and may the death and resurrection of Christ visit us and our family with abundant blessings. Happy Easter,” he said.
