COVID-19 Pandemic: Fanwo donates foodstuffs and toiletries to the aged

By Julius O. Abel

Following the directive of Kogi State Government on partial lock down of social, religious and economic activities in the State, the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Evangelist Kingsley Fanwo has donated foodstuffs, toiletries and medical consumables to the people of Mopamuro.

In the message sent by Fanwo and received by the Local Governmen’s Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Security, Matters, Hon. Sunday Moses David, he said the materials are a token of his contribution to ensure the welfare of Mopamuro populace especially at this trying time of the break-out of the Coronavirus Pandemic. He added that the materials are mainly for the aged, because they are the ones most likely to be affected by the virus due to their relatively tired immune system.

Fanwo also emphasized in his message that the Coronavirus is a serious challenge against the whole world, that it is no issue that should be taken political. He said the items are for all Mopamuro people and not for any group of persons or political parties.

“We need to concentrate on all, especially the aged people whose immunity cannot fight the virus. We understand the hardship the sit-at-home directive will inflict on the people; but it is a necessary measure to arrest the spread of the virus.

“We will do more in the coming weeks. What we gave now is just to reassure you that we are with the Mopamuro people in this trying period”, Fanwo said.

The SSA Security while receiving the items appreciates the effort of the Commissioner, that they are received in good faith and shall be delivered for its purpose. He added that Fanwo’s contribution will go a long way in contributing to the ongoing plans of him and the Local Government Administration for same purpose.

The SSA added that just like Fanwo’s message, all hands must be on deck to ensure the welfare of Mopamuro people at this particular time. He said more are expected from well placed persons and other public/political office holders from Mopamuro.

The SSA concluded that the Local Government has been doing all in implementing the policies of the State Government and Federal Government in containing and avoid the spread of Coronavirus in Kogi State.
He call on well meaning individuals and organizations to come to the aid of the people at this “challenging period”.
