Kogi State is set for Classical Information and Communications Ministry – Fanwo

The Special Adviser to Governor Yahaya Bello on Information and Communications Strategies, Hon. Kingsley Fanwo has said Kogi State is set for a Classical Information and Communications Ministry under is watch and supervision of the Governor. He said this in a welcome message while addressing the entire staffs of the ministry during a familiarization visit in Lokoja on Monday.
Fanwo challenged all staffs of the ministry to imbibe a mindset of positive change, pragmatism and what the 21st Century demands for a classical Information and Communications Ministry. He also expressed delight at existence of some departments like Films and Archive, Graphics Art, New Media, etc… in the ministry; he however identified the need to drive and activate the functionality of those departments for the desired results, as though it is not about the title of the departments and offices, but the ability to deliver the expected results.
As a Ministry that is pivotal to everything happening in the State, by informing the world and generate revenue for the State through Information and Communications Technology (ICT), according to the Special Adviser.
“I have come around to spark all of these possibilities and make it work with the Spirit of togetherness”, Fanwo said, urging the staffs to leave behind old styles and imbibe new styles.
Directors of various Departments who gave an overview of the strengths and weaknesses of their respective departments are; Mr. Simeon Yaro of Archive Department,
Mr. Adegbola T. Isaiah (JP) of Graphic Arts Department, Mr. Ibrahim Idris of Accounting Department, Fati Sanni of Research and Documentary Department, and Jordan Akpata of Information Services. Others are Adunodija Ebenezer of New Media Department, Hussein Bako of Printing Department, Egbuna Ibrahim of Registry Department and Imam Kasim of Department of Administrative and Finance. The Directors however unanimously said the challenges are finances and conducive working environment, adding that there are human physical and intellectual capacity on ground to get the job done.
While responding to their demands, Fanwo said a work ethic based on delivery need to be established, adding that the Ministry will be the clearing house for the administration where all other ministries will be dumping their achievements and programmes in order to show case for the whole world. He said all of these will be achieved by critically looking into the challenges and putting out every will to seek solutions.
Fanwo said he is glad that he will be working with a team in tune with his intention to drive a modern Ministry of Information and Communications in line with the digital approach of His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello.
