Dino Melaye, the Kogi West Senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming senatorial rerun election has described the votes of Kabba community as inconsequential to his victory.
According to an impeccable source, the information leaked in a telephone conversation between the embattled former Senator and one of his loyalists in Kabba town, Hon Segun Modeyin, who had called to expressed his worry over their inability to visit the Obaro of Kabba when the party campaign council visited Kabba last week.
Barrister Segun Modeyin was heard saying that majority of the people in the community are not happy with the party over their decision not to visit their revered King, noting that the singular act is causing the party a huge setback in the area.
The former chairman tried to prevail on the embattled former Senator Dino Melaye to see reason why he should apologize to the King and the people of the community on his unguided comments that is causing issues for the fortune of the party.
He told Dino Melaye not to listen to the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Kola Ologbondiyan, noting that he knew he would never support the Obaro of Kabba, Oba Solomon Dele Owoniyi because of the position of his family on his emergence.
He said Kabba community don’t joke with any issues relating to their traditional institutions especially the Obaro that is seen as traditional head of not only Oweland but the entire Okun nation.
Dino Melaye in his response urged Hon Segun Modeyin not to bother himself as the votes of Kabba community cannot stop his victory.
He said the Bunu people are solidly behind him, especially the Kiri axis who have more votes than Kabba community, hence he is not bothered about whatever anyone would say.
He noted that he did not regret what he said at Olonijola hall, Kabba when the PDP Kogi West had its stakeholders meeting and he charged them to deal with any traditional rulers that stand against their party.
It will also be recalled during the last PDP Governorship Primary Election held in Lokoja, Dino Melaye had denied majority of Kabba district delegates the logistics he made available for delegates that will participate in the said election, pointed out that Kabba people are not trust worthy, hence he decided not to give them his money.
